DGFT authorizes KCC&I to issue Certificate of Origin to J&K exporters

The Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has authorized Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCC&I) to issue “Certificate of Origin” to exporters from Jammu and Kashmir.
An order issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry; The Indian government yesterday authorized four trade bodies in the country to issue “Certificates of Origin” to exporters in their respective regions.
KCC&I, Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association, Porbandar Chamber of Commerce and Industries and Eastern UP Chamber of Commerce and Industries were de-listed last year by DGFT (vide Public Notice No. 31/2023 dated 20-09-2023) . Non-adherence to repeated instructions of DGFT to onboard common digital platform for issuance of non-preferential certificates of origin.
DGFT issued Public Notice List yesterday under number 38/2023 to authorize these four trade bodies to issue Certificate of Origin to exporters.
In a statement issued here, KCCI expressed gratitude to Director General of Foreign Trade Santosh Kumar Sarangi for reconsidering its previous position, whereby KCC&I was delisted.
“KCC&I is requested to review the earlier decision of DGFT after completing all the requirements to on-board e-COO on Common Digital Platform vide Trade Notice No. 42/2020-21 Dated: 19-02 It took four months of hard effort. -2021,” said the statement issued by KCC&I.
It may be mentioned here that the Government of India had last month ordered a probe into the activities of KCC&I since 2010 and the DGFT giving the trade body the power to issue certificates of origin to exporters from Jammu and Kashmir will be a morale booster for them. Is.
