Deonar: Case registered against four people on charges of illegal parking and extortion

Maharashtra: A case has been registered against four people for illegal parking and extorting money from motorists near the Bainganwadi signal on the Mankhurd-Ghatkopar Link Road in the Deonar police station area of Mumbai. Police have named Shoeb Borkar, Asif Shaikh, Javed Khan, and Deepchand Yadav as accused in the case.

The case was registered based on a complaint by Asif Ali Mohammed Ishtiaq Shaikh, 35, a resident of Shivajinagar in Govandi and owner of Roshan Tech Services Private Limited, a telecom company.

According to the FIR, the incident occurred around 9 pm on April 6. The complainants had arrived at the Bainganwadi signal area after finishing work. Unable to find a parking space, they parked their Kia car near the Maharashtra Compound.

It is alleged that when the complainants were leaving, Deepchand Yadav, Asif Shaikh, and Javed Khan arrived at the scene and asked them to remove their vehicles. The incident reportedly escalated into a dispute.

The complaint also alleges that these individuals operated unauthorized parking lots in the area and extorted money from motorists. Based on this, the police have registered a case against the four accused and initiated an investigation.

According to the police, given the seriousness of the matter, CCTV footage and other evidence from the vicinity of the incident are being examined. It is also being investigated whether such extortion activities have been ongoing for a long time or whether this was an isolated incident.

Local residents have also reported complaints of similar illegal parking and extortion in the past. They say that disputes often arise over parking in this area, and drivers are often forced to pay under pressure.

The police have clarified that the matter will be investigated impartially and, if the allegations are found to be true, further legal action will be taken. The process of questioning the four accused has been initiated.

This incident once again highlights the problems of illegal parking operations and roadside extortion in the city, which requires strict administrative oversight.
