DELHI-NCR: The Delhi University (DU) administration has taken strict action against a professor following allegations that he surreptitiously took photographs of a female student without her permission. Given the gravity of the allegations, the professor has been suspended with immediate effect, and his mobile phone has been seized for forensic examination.
Upon learning of the incident, the university administration initiated a preliminary inquiry. Based on the allegations leveled by the student, the professor has been relieved of administrative duties to ensure an impartial investigation. The university has stated that no negligence regarding the safety and dignity of female students will be tolerated.
As part of the investigation, officials have taken possession of the professor’s mobile phone and sent it to a forensic laboratory. Experts will determine whether the alleged photographs exist on the device, when and how they were taken, and whether they have been tampered with in any way. The forensic report is considered a crucial component of the investigation.
The university administration has commenced the inquiry process in accordance with relevant regulations. Furthermore, if the allegations are substantiated, action may be taken against the professor under the law in addition to university disciplinary rules.
Resentment among students was evident on the campus following the incident.
