Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Honored Under the ‘Phool Walon Ki Sair’ Tradition

The Phool Walon Ki Sair celebrations reached the Delhi Secretariat on Monday as Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was honoured with a traditional floral fan by members of Anjuman Sair-e-Gul Faroshan in a ceremonial event accompanied by shehnai music.

The ceremony formed part of the historic festival that symbolises Delhi’s shared cultural heritage and its Ganga-Jamuna ethos. During the event, members of the organisation extended a traditional welcome to the chief minister and presented the customary floral fan, a long-standing tradition associated with the festival.

Speaking on the occasion, Gupta said Phool Walon Ki Sair represents much more than a festival and reflects the spirit of harmony and shared cultural traditions that define the capital. She said such events highlight the importance of unity and brotherhood in India’s diverse cultural landscape.

The CM added that the Delhi government remains committed to preserving and promoting the city’s historical traditions and cultural celebrations. According to her, such programmes help connect younger generations with their cultural roots while strengthening social harmony.

Delhi’s art, culture, languages and tourism minister Kapil Mishra was also present at the event. He said the festival plays an important role in reinforcing Delhi’s shared cultural legacy and offers younger generations an opportunity to experience the capital’s rich traditions.

The week-long Phool Walon Ki Sair festival is being organised from March 15 to 21 this year, featuring a series of cultural, religious and social programmes across the city.
