Decline in demand for Xiaomi’s electric car SU7

World World: Chinese tech company Xiaomi’s first electric car SU7 was a huge success initially, but due to recent controversies, its new bookings are seeing a sharp decline. In April, the order number of SU7 decreased by 55% compared to March, and only 13,500 orders were received in the first two weeks of May.

A major reason for this decline is an accident related to SU7, the investigation of which is still going on. After the accident, a debate started regarding the safety of Xiaomi’s smart driving technology and Chinese regulators have tightened monitoring on the promotion of such technologies.

Apart from this, the company had to apologize to the customers for giving wrong information about the carbon fiber hood of the SU7 Ultra model. About 400 customers have demanded a refund for this.
