Tamil Nadu: Republican Party of India State President S.K. Tamilarasan stated that the decision on alliances for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections will be made at a working committee meeting in Chennai on the 26th.
The Republican Party of India’s State Executive meeting was held in Salem on Friday. Party State President S.K. Tamilarasan chaired the meeting and discussed with the executive about contesting the Legislative Assembly elections and forming alliances.
He then told reporters: “We don’t trust the current electoral system. This isn’t just my decision. It’s also the decision of Ambedkar and the leaders who came after him. While there are reservations for minorities in education and employment, reservations in political power are only approved in Parliament once every 10 years.
This is a contract-based political reservation. This needs to be reconsidered.”
Even though we don’t trust the electoral system, we are determined to secure democratic representation in elections. This is the principle we have followed in every election. He said that we will decide and announce our alliance with whom we will form alliances for the upcoming elections at the Working Committee meeting in Chennai on the 26th.
