Sundernagar. The rape accused kept in custody in the lockup of Sundernagar police station died under suspicious circumstances. After his health deteriorated, the accused was taken to the hospital, but the doctors could not save him. In the preliminary investigation and medical report, it is being said that the death was due to consumption of poison. However, this will be confirmed only after the post-mortem and viscera report comes. On the other hand, after this incident, questions have also been raised on the functioning of Sundernagar police station. If the accused has committed suicide by consuming poison, then how did the poison reach inside the police station and why was the accused not searched before keeping him in custody, all these questions are being raised. The deceased accused has been identified as Beant Singh Alias alias Kaku village resident Barota Tehsil Ghumarvi. After the death of the deceased, the police could not even get the post-mortem done till Thursday evening. The officers kept avoiding saying anything in this matter the whole day. However, the Mandi police is now going to get the judicial magistrate inquiry done in this case. On the other hand, the deceased’s father Jeet Singh has accused the police of negligence. He said that before arresting his son, the police had thoroughly searched him and he had given us whatever he had.
Even after this, it is not known from where the poison came to the police station and who brought the poison and gave it to his son. He said that a high level investigation should be done in this case. According to the information, the accused was taken into custody by the team of Sundarnagar Police Station after a woman of Sundarnagar accused him of rape. The woman had alleged that she had befriended and met the accused two years ago through social media. After this, in the absence of her husband at her home, he has been threatening to forcefully have physical relations with her and make objectionable photos viral on social media, after which the police arrested the accused on Wednesday. Meanwhile, on Thursday morning, the health of the accused deteriorated and after that he was first taken to Civil Hospital Sundarnagar. From where he was referred to Nerchowk Medical College, but there the doctors declared him dead. DSP Sundarnagar Bharat Bhushan said that the accused person locked in the lock-up of Sundarnagar Police Station has died under suspicious circumstances. He was also taken to the hospital, but his life could not be saved. Now there will be a judicial magistrate inquiry into the matter. The post-mortem of the deceased’s body will be done in front of a judge on Friday following the judicial process.
