In 2023, 56 young men and women ended their lives in the district. Among them, the number of men is four times that of women. Two years ago this figure was double. According to the psychologist, today the youth is losing their endurance. Trouble due to financial situation and loneliness of people is also a big reason. In the district, 38 youths committed suicide in 2022, while in 2023 this figure has been recorded as 35. Similarly, from January to 30 April 2024, 25 people have committed suicide. The main reason behind this is financial trouble and family problem. Instead of fighting, the youth are ending their lives by losing to the problems. Dr. OP Dayama said that the main reason for the increasing cases of suicide is loneliness and mental stress. In today’s time, joint families have ended. Both husband and wife are busy in earning. Mental stress is also very high due to exploitation of employees in government and private jobs. Along with the stress of work, the youth are not able to bear the family stress. Loneliness in a nuclear family starts eating people from inside.
In the pursuit of equality in modernity, people are losing their patience. Small things which can be resolved by mutual agreement are made into big disputes. Nowadays mobiles are also becoming a big problem in this. If parents say something to their children, they start taking wrong steps in anger. In the last three years, 28 children below the age of 18 have committed suicide in the district. These death figures have come to light due to small things at home and the use of mobiles. According to information received from the district hospital, many children have committed suicide after taking to heart affairs at an early age and scoldings from elders.
