Dead body of an unknown woman found in Tihli Pahad forest, killer arrested
Raigarh. In the case of the dead body of an unidentified woman found in the forest of village Sahaspur Tihli Pahad, the Gharghoda police has identified the woman and arrested the accused and sent him on judicial remand for the crime of murder. According to the information, on 26.03.2024, Gaulochan Rathiya (age 50 years) of village Sahaspur Kamatara informed about the dead body of an unidentified woman aged about 35-40 years lying in the forest of village Sahaspur Tihli Pahad and registered a case intimation. Case number 37/2024 under section 174 Cr.P.C. was registered in Gharghoda police station and after investigation panchnama proceedings, PM of the body was done and efforts were being made to identify the unidentified deceased. During investigation, on 08.06.2024, the unidentified deceased was identified as Urmila Minj, wife of late Edmon Minj, age 35 years. The incident took place in Sakraliya Para Bonki Gram Panchayat Katipali āDā Outpost Rairumakhurd Police Station Dharamjaygarh, District Raigarh (CG). The family members of the deceased told that Urmila Minj (deceased) was kept as wife by Akalsai Kerketta resident of village Barpali, Outpost Rairumakhurd for 10-12 years and they had last seen Urmila with her and expressed suspicion on Akalsai Kerketta for causing the incident.
Short PM report was received by Gharghoda Police in which it is written that the deceased died due to injury on the head. On inquest, crime number 192/2024 under section 302 IPC was registered against Akalsai Kerketta on 23.06.2024 and investigation was taken up. On taking the suspect Akalsai Kerketta into custody and interrogating him, he said that Urmila was not living with him for about one and a half years, and he was persuading her to live with him. Meanwhile, on the afternoon of 16.03.2024, he met Urmila and asked her to live with him, but on her refusal, he confessed to killing her by hitting her on the head with a solid stone in the village Sahaspur Tihli Pahad forest. The Gharghodha police took the accused along and got the crime scene re-mapped and videographed. On the identification and presentation of the accused, the deceased’s towel and a stone used in the crime were seized from the crime scene and a Hero Passion Pro motor cycle without number plate and the clothes worn at the time of the crime were seized from the accused’s residence. The accused Akalsai Kerketta, father Rupan Kerketta, age 55 years, resident of village Barpali Dhorabhatha, outpost Rairuma Khurd, police station Dharamjaygarh, district Raigarh has been arrested today for the crime of Hajya and sent on judicial remand. Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Divyang Kumar Patel and Additional SP Akash Markam, SDOP Dharamjaigarh Shri Siddhant Tiwari, Police Station Incharge Gharghodha Inspector Amit Tiwari and his staff played an important role in solving the blind murder case.
