Tamil Nadu: Flight services in Puducherry have been cancelled today due to Cyclone Titwa. Flight services were halted yesterday and remain cancelled today as well.
Cyclone Titwa, which formed in the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining northern Sri Lankan waters, is moving north-northwestward, with its center over the southwest Bay of Bengal near the coasts of northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and southern Andhra Pradesh.
Cyclone Titwa is 230 km from Chennai and 60 km from Nagapattinam. Its center is about 110 km from Puducherry.
As a result, sea waves are rising in the coastal areas of Puducherry and Karaikal. The district administration has advised people not to go to the beaches.
Similarly, 11 Air Lanka and 6 IndiGo flights between Colombo and Chennai have also been cancelled. Apart from this, flights between Jaffna in Sri Lanka and Chennai have also been cancelled.
