Crores of rupees were defrauded by promising to double the money in the stock market, 2 fraudsters arrested

Police have arrested government teacher Ramnarayan Sahu and one of his accomplices who cheated crores of rupees by promising to double the amount by investing in the stock market in the district. So far, fraud of ₹ 1,22,82,000 has been confirmed in this case, and the police fear that the actual amount of fraud could be much more than this. The accused misused the social reputation and trust of the government teacher and trapped dozens of people in their trap. To gain people’s trust, teacher Ramnarayan Sahu ran schemes in his own name, which convinced the villagers and other investors that they were making safe investments. According to the police, the accused Ramnarayan Sahu along with his accomplice used to trap people by telling them that he invests their money in the stock market and crypto trading, which will double the amount in a few months. Initially, the trust of some investors was won by giving them small profits and then an amount of lakhs of rupees was taken. The victims say that the accused kept collecting large amounts of money through bank accounts, cash and online means in the name of investment, but started procrastinating in returning the money on time. When some investors asked for their money back, they were threatened and misled by showing fake documents.

Investigation of the complaints lodged so far has revealed that the accused have defrauded a total of ₹ 1,22,82,000. This figure is only of the initial investigation and the police fear that the actual amount of fraud may be more than ₹ 2 crore, as many more victims are coming forward.

In view of the seriousness of the case, a special team was formed on the instructions of the Balodabazar Superintendent of Police. Based on technical evidence and statements of the victims, the police arrested Ramnarayan Sahu and his accomplice. Both the accused are being interrogated intensively and based on the information so far, the names of many more victims have also come to light. The police team has seized computers, documents, transaction registers, bank statements, mobile phones and other electronic devices related to the fraud. The accounts used by the accused in the name of investment are also being investigated.

Ramnarayan Sahu was working as a government teacher and was well known in rural areas. Taking advantage of this social reputation, he took people into confidence and extorted lakhs of rupees. Committing such fraud while being in a responsible position like a teacher is not only a betrayal but also makes the crime heinous.
