Melbourne: Nikhil Chaudhary, the second Indian-origin cricketer to play in the Big Bash League (BBL) after Unmukt Chand, said that he is a big fan of Virat Kohli’s aggression. Hobart Hurricanes spinner Choudhary said he hopes to settle down in Australia and build a strong BBL career that will last beyond his current one-year contract.
“For sure man. I am a big fan of his (Kohli’s) aggression and obviously his skills. But what a good cricketer he is. I have been following him completely for the last 10 years. And he continues to grow.” Nikhil said in a post-match interview after the BBL clash against Melbourne Renegades.
Chaudhary, who hopes to become a proven finisher in the Big Bash League, said he embraced the opportunity to learn from the greatest of all time, his Hurricanes teammate and Mumbai Indians player Tim David.
Nikhil talked about how Tim David made him feel comfortable and how the big-hitting Australian star called him soon after joining the team.
“I’ve been talking to him (Tim David) for the last few months, when I signed the contract, he messaged me immediately and he said, ‘Let’s do this guy’. This is a great learning from him,” said the young cricketer.
The 27-year-old said, “He is one of the best finishers and hitters in this world right now and his experience speaks for itself; He has been with Mumbai Indians for the last few years.”
Nikhil Chaudhary’s Hobart Hurricanes have had a mixed start to the BBL 13 season, with three wins and three losses. The Hurricanes face Brisbane Heat at the Gabba on Sunday. (ANI)
