Cow smuggling, youth carrying animals in pickup arrested

Dhamtari. Keregaon police has arrested the accused who was involved in illegal smuggling of cow progeny. Police had received information from the informer that 09 animals were crammed into the pickup Tata Yodha Cro CG 17 KW 1635 and were being transported from Dhamtari to Ghuravad market with the intention of illegally slaughtering them without any grain or water.

. On the basis of the information on which the driver along with the vehicle was caught red-handed by blocking the road, due to giving evasive answers when interrogated, a crime was registered against the accused and an offense was found under Section 4.6.10 Chhattisgarh Animal Protection Act 2004 and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960.

The crime has been registered against the accused and the statements of the witnesses have also been recorded.

Due to the written statement that there was no valid document regarding transportation of 09 animals in the said vehicle, the said 09 animals and the vehicles used in the incident were seized and taken into custody by the police. Health examination of 09 animals seized has been done by the Veterinary Officer, Keregaon.
