Covid-19 infections rise in Hong Kong and Singapore, Is World heading for another pandemic

Hong Kong and Singapore health officials have raised an alarm about the rise in Covid Cases in several regions in Asia. The Head of the Communicable Disease Branch at Hong Kong’s Centre for Health Protection said that Covid-19 activity in the city is now “quite high.”

If the reports are to be trusted, the number of respiratory samples testing positive for Covid-19 was at its peak since last year. As many as 31 severe cases were reported in the week up to May 3.

The Covid-19 virus was detected in sewage water and many people are visiting the hospitals and clinics with similar symptoms.

Singapore also reported a rise in Covid-19 cases. The health ministry reported cases in May. The cases rose by 28 per cent to around 14,200 during the week ending may 3. The hospital admissions increased by 30%.

Two major Covid cases were reported by Thailand’s Department of Disease Control. The cases increased after the Songkran festival in April as people crowded to observe the festival.
