Dhubri (Assam): Congress MP Rakibul Hussain stated on April 30 that exit polls should not be trusted and claimed that the Congress alliance is confident of forming the government in Assam after the election results are announced on May 4.
Rakibul Hussain made this statement during a press conference held at his residence in Dhubri. He said that the current exit polls do not accurately reflect the actual public opinion. According to him, the final decision will be clear only after the counting of votes, at which time the Congress alliance will be in a stronger position.
He also informed that a team of Congress MPs and MLAs visited the strong room set up at the PC Institute Model Higher Secondary School in Gauripur. Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the five assembly constituencies of Dhubri district are kept in this strong room under tight security.
Rakibul Hussain alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to present a different political narrative through exit polls. He said that the projections shown in some exit polls do not match the ground reality and this is an attempt to create confusion among the public.
The Congress MP also said that his party has expressed concern about certain documents related to the election process. He specifically raised the issue of alleged irregularities in Form 17C and said that transparency is essential on this issue.
He appealed to the Election Commission of India to ensure that the counting process is completely fair, transparent, and accurate, so that there is no room for any doubt. According to him, the correct counting of public votes is of paramount importance in a democratic process, and any irregularities in this process are unacceptable.
Rakibul Hussain said that the Congress alliance has full confidence in the public’s support and is confident about the results. He said that the people of Assam have voted for change this time, and the results will be clear on May 4th.
He further stated that his party is monitoring every stage of the election process and is maintaining utmost vigilance against any irregularities. Congress leaders expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements at the strong room, but also stressed the need to maintain transparency.
Meanwhile, discussions regarding exit polls and potential results have intensified in the political environment. Various parties are making their own claims, while the actual results are still some time away.
The Congress maintains that the final results will reflect the true public opinion, while exit polls are only estimates and are not always accurate.
