Congress MLA’s remarks hurt the dignity of women: BJP

Madhya Pradesh: The BJP Mahila Morcha protested and burned an effigy of Congress MLA Phool Singh Baraiya at Bharat Mata Chowk in Neemuch district on Sunday against his recent comments about women. In a recent media interview, Baraiya reportedly said that seeing a beautiful woman “can lead someone astray and lead to rape.” He further stated that women from SC/ST and OBC communities “are not beautiful,” but are raped because, according to his claim, scriptures say so.

BJP District President Vandana Khandelwal said that the use of derogatory and vulgar language against women by a person holding a constitutional position is completely unacceptable. She said that such comments hurt the dignity of women and send a negative message to society.

BJP MLA Dilip Singh Parihar called the statement an insult to all women and demanded that Congress take moral responsibility. He appealed to senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi to demand the MLA’s resignation and apologise publicly.
