Congress celebrates Indira Gandhi’s birth anniversary in Arunachal Pradesh

Guwahati: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) celebrated the 108th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at the Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan in Itanagar on Wednesday, November 19.

Party leaders remembered her as a leader known for her vision, courage, and nation-building.

APCC President Bosiram Sirame paid tribute and encouraged citizens, especially the youth, to follow Gandhi’s ideals and uphold values ​​such as secularism, social justice, inclusive development, and national unity.

He said her leadership during difficult times has influenced India’s democratic structure.

Sirame highlighted Gandhi’s efforts to maintain national integrity, promote self-reliance, elevate India’s international reputation, and protect marginalized communities.

He said her policies set lasting standards in governance and inclusive development.

He also mentioned his key reforms, including the Green Revolution, bank nationalization, poverty alleviation initiatives, and strengthening democratic institutions, and said his decisive actions during crises reflected his dedication to the nation.

Stressing the importance of courage, compassion, and public service in nation-building, he said, “As we celebrate his birth anniversary, we must renew our commitment to the values ​​he embodied – secularism, social justice, national unity, and fearless leadership.”

Siram said Gandhiji’s teachings are particularly relevant today as divisive forces threaten social harmony and urged the citizens of Arunachal Pradesh to promote unity and progress.

The APCC reiterated its commitment to carrying forward Gandhiji’s vision through democratic governance and balanced development in the state.
