Tamil Nadu: An all-party meeting emphasized that officials should address public confusion regarding filling out the SIR form.
An all-party meeting was held by the Chennai Corporation on Monday regarding this matter. District Election Officer and Corporation Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran chaired the meeting. Former AIADMK minister D. Jayakumar, BJP State Secretary Karate R. Thiagarajan, DMK Lawyers Division Manager K. Chandru, Congress Lawyers Division Manager Nawaz, Marxist District Executive Committee member S. Kumar, Communist of India North Chennai District Secretary T.K. Venkatesh, and representatives from recognized parties such as the DMDK, VK, Naam Tamil, and Aam Aadmi Party participated. After the meeting, they spoke to reporters.
Former AIADMK minister T. Jayakumar: Forms for filling out details for those who have migrated and those who have died have been provided late. No action has been taken on previous complaints. Voter list details are first provided to DMK members. A central election observer should be appointed to oversee the process. Officials should address the confusion surrounding form filling.
BJP State Secretary Karate R. Thiagarajan: District election officials have not yet approved the list of part-time agents (PLA 2) submitted by the BJP in the revision process. Therefore, the BJP cannot directly participate in this process. People are confused because the DMK is providing incorrect information about SIR. He said that officials should clear up this confusion. Representatives from all parties stressed the need to address this confusion.
District Election Officer J. Kumaragurubaran: Forms have been distributed to 3.85 million people in the assembly constituencies under the Chennai Corporation. Of these, more than 1.4 million completed forms have been uploaded to computers. He said that with the cooperation of political parties, this work can be completed within the stipulated time.
