In the program, the Secretary of District Legal Services Authority Mahasamund, Damodar Prasad Chandra, while discussing collectively on the subjects of the Constitution of India and its importance and human rights, said that the Indian Constitution is a symbol of our values, principles and framework of governance as the fundamental law of the country. It plays a role as the supreme law of India and also guides the functioning of the states. The Constitution lays down the framework for administration based on the rule of law and ensures that no person is above the law. The Constitution guarantees fundamental rights such as freedom of speech and expression, freedom of religion etc. and provides a mechanism for legal redressal in case of violation of these rights.

Apart from this, Secretary Chandra informed that Article 39A of the Indian Constitution ensures justice for all and free legal aid has been arranged for the poor and weaker sections of the society. Under Articles 14 and 22 (1) of the Constitution, it is the responsibility of the State to ensure equal opportunity for all. The Legal Services Authority Act was passed in 1987 to establish a mechanism to provide competent legal services to the weaker sections of the society on the basis of equality. Under this, the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) has been constituted, which provides legal aid and advice to the people by implementing and evaluating legal aid programs and monitoring them continuously. Similarly, in every state, a State Legal Services Authority has been formed under which District Legal Services Authority has been formed in all the districts of that state and Taluka Legal Services Committee has been formed in the tehsil areas. Its work is to implement the policies and instructions of NALSA and provide free legal services to the people. On this occasion, the school’s principal Ami Rufus, teachers Pramod Kumar Kannauje, Akansha Bhoi, GR Tandon along with rights friend Harichand Sahu Mohit Kumar Sahu were present.
