Code of conduct does not apply in public interest works: High Court
Raipur. Hearing was held in the High Court on the PIL filed regarding the bad roads of Chhattisgarh. The government told the court that Rs 22.5 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of the dilapidated assembly road, but the tender has not been issued due to the code of conduct. The amicus curiae told the division bench that the code of conduct does not apply in works of public interest. After this, the division bench of Chief Justice Ramesh Kumar Sinha and Justice Ravindra Aggarwal gave instructions to issue the tender. Also, the Advocate General has been asked to monitor the entire process. Expressing his displeasure, the Chief Justice told the Advocate General that until this road is not repaired, you will come and go like this. During the hearing of the PIL filed regarding the dilapidated roads across the state, the amicus curiae presented their report regarding the reference road. He told that the condition of the road leading to Raipur Airport near Dhaneli and Vidhan Sabha Road is very bad. There are potholes at many places on the roads. Even the street lights are not on. There is a possibility of an accident at night.
