Lucknow: During an important meeting on Monday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath discussed the ongoing efforts, current results and future policies aimed at achieving the ambitious goal of establishing Uttar Pradesh. A trillion dollar economy.
Many ministers of the state government attended the meeting organized by the Planning Department. In the meeting, the Principal Secretary of the Planning Department and representatives of financial consultancy company Deloitte gave detailed information about the current economic environment of the state. He explained in detail about the current situation and possible future outcomes, industry expectations and other relevant details sector-wise. Chief Minister gave major guidelines in the special meeting.
Today, the economy of Uttar Pradesh is in its best condition due to the planned efforts of the last six and a half years. The total GDP of the state, which was Rs 16.45 lakh crore in 2021-22, has now increased to more than Rs 22.58 lakh crore in 2022-23. With a contribution of 9.2% to the national income, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the country’s second largest economy, playing an important role as the country’s growth engine.
Our efforts have also yielded positive results in assessing the state’s growth rate as compared to national standards. Uttar Pradesh’s growth rate at current prices and constant prices in 2021-22 was 20.1% and 9.8% respectively, while the country’s growth rate was 18.4% and 9.1%, respectively. Similarly, in 2022-23, the national growth rate of constant prices was recorded at 7.2%, while the state growth rate was 9.8%, while the growth rate of the state at constant prices during the period was recorded at 14.3%.
In the current scenario, the state’s GDP is estimated to exceed Rs 25.55 lakh crore in 2023-24. To reach the target of one trillion dollars by 2027, it is necessary that all departments increase their efforts. Better planning and coordination is necessary. Our intentions are clear and our goals well-defined. He said that everyone will have to work together with the right policy and planned implementation.
The Chief Minister further said, “It is important to collect accurate data so that our planning is in line with the target. “Organize workshops and training for statistical officers at each departmental level to ensure proper assessment of the situation in different areas.”
We have significant capabilities and the current scenario offers favorable opportunities. We have to take full advantage of it.’ He said that the progress of all the departments should be reviewed every month by the Planning Department in relation to the targets set for economic reform.
Digital technology has been incorporated to improve the primary segment of the economy, initiatives like digital crop surveys have been successfully implemented. It has to be implemented effectively in all 75 districts. Notably, the area and production under sugarcane cultivation increased by 26.8% in 2021-22, while horticulture crop production witnessed a substantial growth of 31.9%.
State sponsored schemes aimed at achieving self-reliance in pulses and oilseeds in Uttar Pradesh are yielding favorable results. However, CM Yogi Adityanath said there is a need to further increase crop diversification and improve supply chain management. Once again the state has achieved the top position in milk production.
Additionally, it ranks third in terms of progress in egg production by achieving an annual growth rate of 12.80%. He said that this progress is satisfactory. CM Yogi further said, “Industrial electricity consumption in the secondary segment has increased by 17.0%. Survey of units established in the Industrial Authority area, identification of unused plots and establishment of new industrial corridor is underway. Pledge parks are being built.” “It is being installed at 10 locations.” The state is experiencing rapid growth in the tertiary sector, which includes hotels and restaurants, transportation, communications, real estate, professional services, public services, defense and other services.
There has been unprecedented development in services related to tourism sector. According to the 2023 report of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Uttar Pradesh has the distinction of receiving the highest number of tourist arrivals in 2022. In the financial year 2022-23, the state welcomed over 31.8 crore tourists along with Varanasi, Mathura. , and Ayodhya is emerging as a major centre. He said that this positive trend is expected to continue in the coming days also.
Speaking on tourism, the Chief Minister said, “Apart from catering to domestic tourists, it is important to develop a comprehensive action plan to attract foreign tourists. “This includes identifying potential countries and formulating a tailored policy for state branding.” The priorities and interests of these countries.”
