CM Yogi pays tribute on Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s death anniversary.

Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary on Sunday. Recalling Vajpayee’s contributions to Indian democracy, politics, and service to the nation, the Chief Minister remembered him as a great statesman and a personality dedicated to the country. To mark the occasion, an ‘Atal Smriti Sandhya’ (Atal Memorial Evening) will be organized in the capital, Lucknow, under the aegis of the Pandit Atal Bihari Vajpayee Memorial Foundation. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will attend the event as the chief guest.

While paying tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reflected on his political and public life. He stated that Atal-ji dedicated his entire life to the service of the nation. He played a pivotal role in strengthening Indian democracy and steering the country onto the path of development. His persona transcended politics, and he became an inspiration for millions through his ideas, principles, and actions.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee shared a profound bond with Uttar Pradesh, and Lucknow in particular. He represented Lucknow in the Lok Sabha for a long period. During this time, he not only carved a distinct niche for himself in national politics but also maintained a special connection with the people of Lucknow. This is why the events organized in Lucknow on his death anniversary hold special significance.

The ‘Atal Smriti Sandhya,’ organized by the Pandit Atal Bihari Vajpayee Memorial Foundation, will commemorate his life, ideas, and contributions to nation-building. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will be the chief guest at the event. Discussions are expected to take place regarding Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s political journey, his democratic values, and his vision for the country’s development.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was among the select few leaders in Indian politics who commanded respect from both the ruling party and the opposition. His oratory style in Parliament and his ability to articulate his views effectively made him one of the country’s most popular leaders. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior. He took an interest in national and social activities from his student days. Later, he emerged as a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and played a pivotal role as a founding leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Throughout his decades-long political career, he held several key positions, including Member of Parliament, Minister of External Affairs, and Prime Minister.

In recognition of his contributions to the nation and public life, the Government of India honored him with the country’s highest civilian award, the ‘Bharat Ratna’, in 2015. He passed away on August 16, 2018. Since his demise, tribute programs have been organized across the country every year on August 16 to mark his death anniversary.

The legacy and ideas of the former Prime Minister will also be commemorated through the ‘Atal Smriti Sandhya’ event in Lucknow. Held in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the program aims to convey Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s thoughts on nation-building, good governance, democracy, and development to the new generation. On the death anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he is being remembered across the country, including in Uttar Pradesh, and his contribution to nation-building is being respectfully acknowledged.
