Kolkata, (IANS) | West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu said on Friday that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will finally decide whether to appoint the wife of Sujan Chakraborty, a CPI(M) central committee member and former leader of Left legislative parties in the assembly, in violation of norms. There will be an inquiry whether he was appointed in the premier college of Kolkata or not. Incidentally, Sujan Chakraborty’s wife Mili Chakraborty was associated with Kolkata-based Dinabandhu Andrews College as instrument keeper for over three decades. She retired in 2021 and is currently receiving pension for her services.
At this point, the CPI(M) leadership has raised the question that since the last ten years of his service were during the tenure of the Trinamool Congress, which came to power in West Bengal in 2011, why did the state education department take so long to raise the issue? wasted. Basu told mediapersons on Friday that since the last ten years of Milli Chakraborty’s service life was during the present regime, he considered it necessary to take the Chief Minister’s nod whether or not to initiate an inquiry into the matter.
He said- it is not yet clear whether Sujan Chakraborty’s wife got a job in that college without clearing the written test and interview. It will be known only after the investigation in this regard, which will again be started only after getting the green signal from the Chief Minister.
Basu also said that during the 34 years of Left Front rule, there were irregularities in over 47,000 recruitments as per various reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India. He said, now the CPI(M) is talking about recruitment irregularities in the present regime. But remember that those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
