CM presents Karunanidhi Classical Tamil Award to Tamil scholar Thayammal

Tamil Nadu : Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presented the Artist M. Karunanidhi Classical Tamil Award to Tamil scholar Thayammal Aravanan.

It was announced that former Chief Minister Karunanidhi’s birthday will be celebrated as Classical Language Day. Under this, the Tamil Nadu government celebrated Classical Language Day at Kalaivana Arangam in Chennai on Tuesday.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presented this year’s Artist M. Karunanidhi Classical Tamil Award to Tamil scholar Thayammal Aravanan. Thayammal received the award, which included a cheque of Rs 10 lakh and a statue of Karunanidhi.

Born in Kanyakumari district, Thayammal is known for her research on the topic ‘Children’s Literature – An Analysis’ and has earned a PhD degree.

Awards – Scholarships: On the occasion of Classical Language Day, art competitions were organized for college and school students across Tamil Nadu. In these, the Chief Minister presented cheques and certificates to the first three prize winners in speech and essay competitions. It was also announced that the scholarship amount for senior Tamil scholars would be increased. To implement this, the Chief Minister awarded enhanced scholarships to two Tamil scholars.

Release of Achievement Flower: A flower has been prepared by the Department of Information and Public Relations to signify the achievements of the Tamil Nadu government in the last four years. This flower was released by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at the function. Tamil Development and Information Minister M.P. Saminathan welcomed the gathering. Department Secretary V. Rajaraman expressed gratitude.

The function was attended by ministers, MDMK general secretary Vaiko, VVIP leader Thol. Thirumavalavan, Communist Party of India State secretary R. Mutharasan and Indian Union Muslim League national president K.M. Khattar Mohideen among others.
