Patna (IANS) | After visiting Delhi, Kolkata and Lucknow in an effort to unite the opposition ahead of next year’s Lok Sabha elections, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is now set to travel to Bhubaneswar for a meeting with Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik. He said that the date of the meeting has not been decided yet.
The buzz on Wednesday was that Nitish Kumar would meet Patnaik in Odisha on May 5 (Friday).
I have very good relations with him (Naveen Patnaik), Kumar told reporters. I will talk to him about opposition unity. The date of the meeting is not fixed yet.
Earlier on April 11, the Bihar Chief Minister had met Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal, CPI(M)’s Sitaram Yechury and CPI’s D. Raja.
He also met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on 24 April.
All the leaders welcomed his initiative.
I have no personal ambition for any post, Nitish Kumar said after attending a government function here. I am just trying for opposition unity. Today, BJP is trying to change the history of the country. So, we have to unite and teach them a lesson.
Responding to Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s statement on laborers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, Kumar said, “People of the country are watching everything he is saying.” He will give them a befitting reply.
Pramod Sawant had earlier said that 90 per cent of crimes in Goa are due to migrant laborers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
When asked about the ban on Bajrang Dal, Nitish Kumar said that when all the opposition leaders sit together, we will discuss the issue. When our government will come to the center, we will make a strategy for this. At the moment, I have nothing to say on this.
