CM launched Anna Canteen to provide food to the poor

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu along with his wife Bhuvaneshwari inaugurated Anna Canteens at Gudivada in Krishna district on the occasion of Independence Day. 99 canteens will be launched in the state on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Serving food to the poor gives immense satisfaction. A total of 203 Anna canteens will be set up across the state where food/snacks will be served at a nominal price of Rs 5.” He said Rs 53 lakh is required per day to run the Anna canteens. He said philanthropists are coming forward to donate for the scheme. The scheme has been launched taking inspiration from TDP founder NT Rama Rao and social activist Dokka Sitamma. He said, “An action plan will be prepared to run the Anna canteens permanently without any hindrance. We are going to spend Rs 200 crore per year to run the Anna canteens.” An account with number 37818165097 ISFC: SBIN0020541 has been opened at SBI Chandramouli Nagar branch in Guntur for those who come forward to donate money for the Anna canteen. I will try to solve all your problems: Naidu “The main purpose of setting up Anna canteen is that the poor do not remain hungry. What gives you more satisfaction than filling the empty stomachs of poor people?” he asked. “I have initiated many programmes but I am very happy to inaugurate a great scheme like Anna canteen, especially on the occasion of Independence Day at Gudivada, from where NTR won for the first time as MLA and became the Chief Minister,” Naidu said. Praising Sitamma, who served food to everyone who came to her when he felt hungry, he said she will always remain in the hearts of the people for her act. He said each canteen will serve food to around 350 people and the number will be increased based on people getting the benefit of the scheme. Making it clear that he will not allow trees to be cut in his way like the leader who headed the previous government (YS Jagan Mohan Reddy), Naidu said, “Simple government and effective governance is my policy. I move among all of you and try to solve all your problems. My government is available to everyone round the clock.”
