New Delhi. The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC) under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has started preparations for ‘Special Campaign 6.0’. This special campaign will start from October 2 and run till October 31. During the campaign, special attention will be given to cleanliness in offices, effective disposal of e-waste, better utilization of available space and increasing workplace efficiency. This year the main theme of the campaign has been ‘Effective Collection, Segregation and Disposal of E-Waste’. According to DCPC, the preparation phase has already been started for effectively implementing the Special Campaign 6.0. This year the preparation phase was held between 15 and 30 September. During this period also, several cleaning activities were carried out by the department and the process was taken forward to identify the areas where special work has to be done during the campaign.
The special campaign has now entered its sixth year. Through this campaign organized every year, emphasis is laid on ensuring cleanliness, better record management and proper utilization of available space in government offices. This time, management of e-waste has been given major priority in the campaign. During the campaign, electronic waste i.e. e-waste will be identified and disposed of safely and as per prescribed rules. This process will be completed as per the ‘E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022’ and other applicable guidelines related thereto.
Over time, old computers, monitors, printers and other electronic equipment in offices go out of use. Such goods require proper management. In Special Campaign 6.0, there will be a special emphasis on identification, collection, segregation and disposal of similar e-waste as per the rules. This year the theme of the campaign has also been decided keeping in mind the effective management of e-waste. Under the campaign, the objective is not only to remove e-waste, but the focus will be on completing the entire process in a systematic manner from its collection to separation and final disposal.
Apart from e-waste, work will also be done on better utilization of available space in offices. The department will identify places where space is cluttered with old or unusable goods. Work will be done to utilize the available space in a better way by removing junk and useless items as per the prescribed procedure. Records management will also be included in the major activities during Special Campaign 6.0. Attention will be given to the process of organizing records existing in offices and disposal of unnecessary material. Its purpose is to make the workplace more organized and increase efficiency in daily functioning.
According to the department, a clean and organized workplace plays an important role in creating a better environment for the employees. For this reason, the campaign aims to improve the overall environment of the workplace instead of just being limited to cleaning. Proper utilization of the available space in the office can provide a more organized environment to the employees. Removing old and unused items will not only free up space, but will also make it easier to keep important documents and equipment organized.
DCPC had started preparatory activities even before the start of the campaign. In the preparation phase that ran from 15 to 30 September, several clean-up activities were carried out. During this time, attention was also focused on the necessary preparations for the main phase of the campaign. The main campaign will run from October 2 to October 31. During this period, work related to cleanliness and e-waste management will be done in the areas identified by the department. Apart from this, activities will also be conducted in the direction of removing junk and unusable material lying in the offices and improving record management.
In view of the increasing use of e-waste and the increasing number of electronic devices, the need for their proper disposal is also increasing. Such equipment cannot be disposed of as normal waste after it is no longer in use. Therefore, arrangements for their collection and disposal as per the prescribed rules are important. In Special Campaign 6.0, emphasis will be given to ensuring compliance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022 by giving priority to this aspect. The department will identify e-waste during the campaign and proceed with the process of disposing of it as per the rules.
Through the campaign, efforts will also be made to make the working arrangements in government offices more effective. Cleanliness, record management, better use of space and disposal of unusable materials are the areas through which the workplace can be made more organized. The special thing about this campaign is that cleanliness is not limited to cleaning the office premises only. It covers different aspects like e-waste, scrap, records and space utilization. Through all these activities, emphasis will be laid on developing work efficiency and better environment in offices.
DCPC’s special campaign is now going to be organized for the sixth consecutive year. Like previous campaigns, this time too cleanliness and better office management are the main goals, but the special focus on e-waste makes it special. After the preparation phase, now the main phase of the campaign will start from October 2. During the entire month of October, the department will work on cleanliness in offices and better management of workplace with effective collection, segregation and proper disposal of e-waste.
