Rayagada: In a tragic incident, a Class 8 student was killed in the Rayagada district of Odisha after getting crushed under a truck. First, the bike in which the child was traveling was hit by another bike after which the student fell under the truck wheel. The accident took place in front of the Bhakurguda auditorium under Chandili Police Station limits in the district.
The deceased 8 class student has been identified as Rahul Naik of Derakana village in Sinduraghati panchayat under Kashipur Block. He was a student of the Ashram Vidyalaya in Penikana under Rayagada Block. And the injured person has been identified as Lochan Naik.
As per reports, today, Rahul was returning home from the Ashram School for Dusshera holidays in a bike along with his cousin brother Lochan Naik. In front of the Auditorium in Bhakurguda, there bike was hit by another bike. As a result Rahul got thrown out of the bike and fell on the road when a speeding truck that was coming from the rear side crushed him under its wheels.
As a result, Rahul was killed on the spot. Also, Lochan sustained critical injury.
The locals rushed Lochan Naik to the hospital for treatment. He is undergoing treatment at the hospital in a critical condition.
Following the accident, the truck driver fled the scene.
After getting information police personnel from Chandili police station reached the spot and initiated investigation of the matter.
On the other hand, the locals have demanded compensation for the family of the deceased.
