Chrome world’s most popular desktop browser, Safari in second place

New Delhi (IANS) | Google Chrome has topped the world’s most popular desktop browser, while Apple’s Safari browser is in second place.
According to data provided by web analytics service StatCounter, Chrome is used on 66.13 percent of desktop computers worldwide in the past 12 months, while Safari is used on 11.87 percent of desktop computers. Microsoft’s Edge browser is third with 11 percent and Mozilla’s Firefox is fourth with 5.65 percent.
Opera browser is in fifth place with 3.09 percent share and Internet Explorer is in sixth place with 0.55 percent share. However, in India the figures are slightly different. Chrome, being the world’s most popular desktop browser, continues to top the list in India with 90.4 percent market share, while the second spot has seen some changes in India.
The second position is secured by Firefox with 3.64 percent market share. In India too, Eggade has secured the third position with 3.48 percent share, while Opera is fourth with 1.19 percent share. Apple’s Safari took fifth place with only 1.01 percent market share.
Internet Explorer continues to be ranked sixth in India with 0.11 percent market share.
