Chinese swimmers make a splash at city tour in Hong Kong

China: On Saturday, Chinese Olympians, divers, performed all sorts of special flips and tricks not seen at the Games, while swimmers wowed the crowd with relay events. Also in the audience were two former national diving queens, Olympic gold medallists Fu Mingxia and Guo Jingjing. The two were later seen taking photos with arriving athletes after the event at the fully booked 2,500-seat Victoria Park swimming pool. The performance was one of three public events held to welcome the mainland athletes during their three-day stay in the city, including a grand show for which all 5,300 tickets were sold out at HK$20 (US$2.60) each. During Saturday’s performance, the mainland’s diving team took the opportunity to perform special moves not usually seen in competitive events. One such maneuver involved each team member performing a rapid dive from a platform and navigating every landing gracefully. When asked about his experience performing in front of the crowd, fan favorite diver Kwon Hongchan said: “I think it was really fun.”
