China lifts ban on imports from five Brazilian soy exporting companies

World World: China has lifted the ban on soybean imports from five major Brazilian soy exporters. Brazil’s agriculture ministry confirmed on Thursday that the decision was taken after a technical agreement between health officials of the two countries.

These companies include Terra Roxa, Olam Brazil, C.Vale, Cargill Agricola and ADM do Brazil, which were previously temporarily banned for phytosanitary reasons. China resumed imports from these companies from April 25, just weeks ahead of Brazilian President Lula da Silva’s proposed visit to China.

Brazil is the world’s largest soybean producer and exporter, while China is the largest buyer. In 2024, China imported a record 105 million tonnes of soybeans, of which 74 million tonnes came from Brazil. This trend is further strengthening Brazil’s market share against the US.
