Hindi poems echoed in America on the initiative of Bhilai residents

The international organization Hindi USA St. Louis, established in America on the initiative of Bhilai residents, successfully organized its 7th annual Hindi poetry competition at the Mahatma Gandhi Center. The event was based on the theme of Indian Republic Day, in which the students demonstrated their amazing talent and enthusiasm. Many students recited patriotic poems wearing the costumes of Indian freedom fighters, holding the tricolor in their hands.

The event was led by Mayank Jain, who grew up in the steel city of Bhilai, his wife and Bhilai resident Anshu Jain along with Meghna Lunkad. Mayank Jain said, “This is the 7th consecutive year that Hindi USA St. Louis has organized a Hindi poetry competition. The school has grown from a mere 22 students in 2018 to 230 registered students today, making it the largest non-profit Hindi school in the entire Midwest USA and one of the largest Hindi competitions in the entire US. Special thanks went to Sameer, Dharmesh and Jayesh for organizing the event. Sameer said, “Language, attire and food are integral parts of any culture. Hindi USA’s contribution to maintaining Indian culture is extremely valuable.”

The competition saw 130 participants at eight levels, with poems ranging from light-hearted topics to inspirational and patriotic poems by poets like Ramdhari Singh Dinkar and Harivansh Rai Bachchan. The winners will now participate in the next Hindi USA Schools competition.

The event concluded with a spectacular Taekwondo performance by the Missouri Karate Association, set to the tune of Vande Mataram. The event became a wonderful amalgamation of Indian culture and the talent of the students.
