Tamil Nadu: People protested on Monday at the Omathura Government Hospital in Chennai, alleging that a child died due to improper treatment.
Arun Kumar lives in the Perumbakkam Slum Replacement Board Housing Complex near Chennai. His wife, Suchitra, works as a laborer. The couple has a 4-month-old daughter. The child caught a severe cold a few days ago. Following this, the child was admitted to the Omathura Government Multipurpose Hospital on Thiruvallikeni Valaja Road on Monday.
After providing first aid, the child was given an injection. The child suddenly became very ill and died shortly after.
The shocked parents argued with the doctors and nurses, claiming that the child’s death was due to the wrong injection. The child’s parents and relatives also protested in front of the hospital. They chanted slogans, claiming that the death occurred because a 4-month-old child was given an injection intended for an 8-year-old, and that action should be taken against the doctors and nurses responsible.
Upon receiving information, the Thiruvallikeni police arrived at the scene and assured them of a proper investigation and action against those responsible. Following this, the protesters abandoned the protest and left.
