Raipur. Under the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana, the government provides financial assistance of Rs 50 thousand for the marriage of a girl from an economically weak family. Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana is operated by the Women and Child Development Department of Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister’s girl mass marriage program will be organized in Rajim Kumbh Kalp 2024 fair on Saturday 02 March. In this, 180 couples from the district will get married. The mass marriage program will be organized at Shri Rajiv Lochan Temple Complex, Rajim from 12 noon.
Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Rajwade will attend the program as the chief guest. The program will be presided over by District Incharge Minister and Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Dayaldas Baghel. Mahasamund Lok Sabha constituency MP Shri Chunnilal Sahu and Rajim constituency MLA Rohit Sahu will attend the program as special guests. Other public representatives and distinguished citizens will participate in the program as special guests and bless the newlyweds.
District Program Officer, Women and Child Development Department, Ashok Pandey said that till now 180 couples have been registered. Through this scheme, poor families will get relief from financial difficulties in marriage of girls, stop wasteful expenditure on the occasion of marriage, promote simple marriages, increase morale/self-esteem and improve their social status through organizing mass marriages. The reform aims to encourage mass marriages and prevent dowry transactions in marriages. Its objective is to provide benefits to a maximum of two girls above 18 years of age from a family living below the poverty line/card holder family under the Chief Minister Food Grain Scheme.
