Chief Minister’s drama in the name of petition: Edappadi K Palaniswami

Tamil Nadu : Leader of Opposition and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has accused Chief Minister M.K. Stalin of staging a drama by collecting petitions in boxes in the name of petitions. In this regard, a statement issued by him on Wednesday said that before coming to power, Stalin as the Leader of Opposition got huge boxes placed all over Tamil Nadu, locked them and kept the keys in his pocket. Have those boxes been opened so far, how many lakh petitions have been received? Have those demands really been addressed? Or have only acknowledgement slips been issued? These rulers have not yet released the actual figures for the questions I have raised several times. After coming to power, all that is left to do is to deceive the people of Tamil Nadu by receiving petitions from the public under various names like ‘Chief Minister’s Address Department’, ‘Chief Minister in your constituency’, ‘Chief Minister with the people’, ‘Are you okay?’, ‘Chief Minister with the people – urban and rural’, ‘Chief Minister with the people – Scheduled Castes and Hill Tribes’.

Now that the general elections are approaching, it is understood that a well-planned drama is being staged in the coming days wherein people will go door-to-door to receive petitions with the objective of deceiving the people of Tamil Nadu once again.

We can count many more instances when the Scheduled Castes were attacked, workers were crushed, only a few people enjoyed the Central government schemes in the name of sanitation workers, when it was named the top state in borrowing in the country, when it did not fulfil its 2021 election promises, when it refused to allow democratic protests through the assessment department.

The sad thing is that while the DMK government has put many burdens on the people of Tamil Nadu, many parties are making rounds of the temple of knowledge in the name of coalition dharma, aware of all these facts.

A rose by any name is a rose. That is the glory of the rose flower. Similarly, it is the duty of the government to receive the petitions of the people and address their grievances.

But, he said, if Stalin thinks he can deceive people by giving different names to a project, the people of Tamil Nadu are ready to give a befitting reply in the 2026 Assembly elections.
