Raipur: Chhattisgarh has bagged the overall champion’s trophy 26th All India Forest Sports Meet held in Panchkula, Haryana, becoming the overall champion for the 11th time. With a total of 164 medals, Chhattisgarh maintained its first position, surpassing its closest competitor Karnataka.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel and Forest Minister Shri Mohammad Akbar have congratulated and extended their best wishes to the Forest Department on this significant achievement in the All India Forest Sports Meet. It is worth mentioning that this event, which lasts for five days, includes various indoor games such as tennis, table tennis, badminton, swimming, karate, chess, weightlifting, powerlifting, kabaddi, as well as events in cricket, football, basketball, hockey, golf, and athletics. Officials from the Forest Department, from PCCF to guards, participate in these sports competitions.
The forest department team of Chhattisgarh defeated Jammu and Kashmir in cricket, winning the gold medal for the seventh time. Similarly, in football, Chhattisgarh claimed first place by defeating Haryana, which had several national players in its team. Chhattisgarh’s basketball team won the gold medal by defeating Karnataka. In weightlifting and powerlifting, the team bagged a total of 19 gold medals, in tennis 12 gold and 2 silver medals, in badminton 4 gold medals, in swimming 6 gold medals, and in athletics 18 gold, 10 silver, and 8 bronze medals. In addition, they won 9 gold and 2 silver medals in tennis.
Thus, in this year’s 26th All India Forest Sports Meet, Chhattisgarh won a total of 164 medals, earning a total of 542 points, and maintained its first position by beating their nearest rival Karnataka in tough competition. It is worth mentioning that with the skilled guidance of Chief Minister, Forest Minister along with Principal Secretary (Forest) Shri Manoj Pingua, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief of Forest Force Shri Sanjay Shukla, and the tireless efforts of nodal officer APCCF Shri Sunil Mishra and DFO Shri Vishvesh Kumar, Shri Alok Tiwari, and Ms. Sangeeta Rajgopalan, and the constant practice and dedication of the players, Chhattisgarh achieved the first position. They have brought laurels to Chhattisgarh.
