Chhatrapur Seven people arrested on charges of armed robbery.

Chatrapur: Police stated on Sunday that the Kabisuryanagar police in Ganjam district arrested seven alleged robbers within 24 hours of a dacoity at a farmhouse and recovered weapons and stolen goods from them.

Ganjam Superintendent of Police Harisha B.C. identified the accused as Santosh Mahapatra, Manoranjan Gouda, Rudranarayan Sethi, Shubham Raut, Jitendra Khatei (alias Hina), Dutikrishna Nayak, and Rajiv Kumar Das. According to the police, armed individuals had entered the farmhouse of Rajnikant Mishra in Gokulapalli village on the night of June 19.

It is alleged that they held Mishra and his wife hostage at gunpoint and looted gold jewelry weighing approximately 15 grams, ₹12,500 in cash, and two mobile phones.

Police stated that Mahapatra and Gouda were aware of the complainant’s financial status and had masterminded the robbery along with the others.

Reportedly, Khatei has confessed to carrying a weapon during the crime.

Acting on a tip-off, a special police team raided a forest area near Kankana Temple and arrested the accused.

The police have seized a country-made pistol, three live cartridges, cash, jewelry, mobile phones, and two motorcycles.

Two other suspects, Hitesh Swain and Sweta Khatei, remain at large. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
