Chennai: Retirement ceremony held at Police Commissionerate, 40 policemen honoured

Tamil Nadu: A special retirement ceremony was held at the Chennai City Police Commissionerate on Thursday, honoring retired police officers and constables. A total of 40 police officers were presented with certificates of appreciation for their service.

The retiring officers included Joint Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) S. Maheshwaran, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Thailand) S. Raja, Assistant Commissioner of Traffic (Thyagaraya Nagar), and Inspector D.K. Haridas of the Chennai Police Security Division. In addition, 16 assistant inspectors, 20 special assistant inspectors, and a female head constable were also included in the list.

The ceremony, held at the Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s office, commended the retiring personnel for their long and dedicated service. The police department stated that all these personnel had performed their duties with honesty and integrity over the years.

Chennai Police Commissioner Abin Dinesh Modak was the chief guest at the event. He presented certificates of appreciation to all 40 retired police officers and praised their contributions. The Commissioner stated that police service is a vital pillar of maintaining law and order in society, and retired officers have been a strong part of this system.

Additional Commissioners of Police (Headquarters) K. Joshi and Nirmal Kumar were also present on the occasion. Deputy Commissioners of Police G. Subbulakshmi (Administration) and D. Kannan (Estate and Welfare), along with several other senior officials, also attended the event.

Family members of police officers were also present at the event. The retired officers were honored with a recollection of their experiences and service. Many officers shared memories of their tenure and expressed their long association with the police department emotionally.

The purpose of this ceremony was not merely a farewell but also a recognition of the contributions of those officers who played a vital role in maintaining law and order over the years. At the end of the event, all retired personnel were greeted with best wishes and a healthy and prosperous future.

The ceremony held at the Chennai Metropolitan Police Headquarters also reflects the tradition and respect culture of the department, where the contribution of every retiring employee is formally acknowledged.
