Chennai Port election clash case: PK Sekharbabu investigated under 6 sections

Tamil Nadu: Police investigations have intensified against former DMK minister P.K. Sekhar Babu in connection with the dispute and clash that occurred in the Chennai Port constituency during the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The case is being investigated by six different police divisions.

The dispute erupted on April 23, the polling day of the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. At that time, P.K. Sekhar Babu, the DMK candidate for the Chennai Port constituency, and Sinora Ashok, the Tamil Nadu Vijay Party candidate, were facing off. During the voting, a heated argument, scuffles, and scuffles broke out between supporters of both parties on Angappan Nayakan Street in Mannady.

The situation escalated following the incident, and both parties filed police complaints against each other. Sinora Ashok filed a complaint at the North Beach police station, alleging that P.K. Sekhar Babu and his supporters assaulted her.

On the other hand, P.K. Sekhar Babu and his supporters have also filed a counter-complaint. Based on this complaint, a case has been registered under relevant sections. According to police records, six serious sections have been imposed in this case, including allegations of illicit relations, use of obscene language, causing bodily harm, attempt to murder, and threats to kill.

According to police officials, evidence is being collected from the scene and surrounding areas, and statements from both parties are being recorded. Given the sensitivity of the case, the investigation has been divided among several police divisions to ensure an impartial investigation of all aspects.

The local administration says that this clash during voting created a tense atmosphere in the area for some time, which was later brought under control. However, the case is now proceeding through the legal process.

Discussion regarding this incident has also intensified in political circles. Both parties are denying or clarifying the allegations at their respective levels. The police have stated that further legal action will be decided only after the investigation is completed.
