CHENNAI: Parambrium with a Filter Coffee Tiramisu Twist

Chennai: In Chennai’s ever-evolving food landscape, Parambryam has carved a niche for itself as a bastion of authentic regional cuisine. Stepping into Parambryam’s newly refurbished Anna Nagar outlet immediately awakens the senses—the glow of vibrant murals, the aroma of simmering gravy, the burst of flavors on the tongue. The renovation has added even more luster to a space that was already brimming with character, but what remains unchanged is the restaurant’s commitment to serving South Indian cuisine in its truest and most soulful form. Speaking to DT Next, Anita Sivakumar, the restaurant’s founder, says, “I was living like a typical housewife. But when my children grew up, I started looking for work. This thought inspired me to start a cloud kitchen, which later became Parambryam.” The name Parambryam is inspired by the ancestral recipes served at the restaurant. As soon as we enter, our eyes are immediately drawn to the vibrant and meticulous strokes of the murals, the bright lighting, and the traditional ambiance. Anita, who has thrived in the industry for the past 15 years, carefully selects her materials and uses only homemade spices. She adds, “The murals are hand-drawn and took three months to create. I chose red because it’s an emotion and arouses appetite. Every corner of the restaurant is filled with traditions of all kinds.” We can see many young people entering the food industry, and many women too. Anita believes that passion is the key to success. “It may sound glamorous, but succeeding in the hospitality industry is no easy task. We have to work around the clock. I think female restaurant owners pay special attention to every detail. It’s still a male-dominated, challenging, but interesting field.” Dedicated to the rich culinary heritage of South India, Parambryam brings the authentic flavors of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh to our plate. First, the Rayalaseema Chicken Soup is spicy and delicious. The Paneer Ghee Roast is outstanding, while the Mushroom Pepper Fry wins our hearts. For non-vegetarians, Hyderabadi Chicken tops our list, followed by the delicious Mutton Chukka. The mutton chops are so tender and juicy that they easily absorb the chili masala. We couldn’t resist, and the Veg Thali is excellent, while the Paruppu Podi with Ghee is a standout. The Maida Halwa also captivated us. The traditional Seeraga Samba Mutton Biryani is delicious and pairs well with the Mutton Chukka. On a positive note, the new Filter Coffee Tiramisu, Elaneer Payasam, and Caramel Peanut Chikki Cake are absolutely delicious and wonderful. Overall, Parambrium is an ideal dining destination for families and friends to enjoy great food in a traditional and contemporary ambiance, at affordable prices.
