Chennai: Police on Friday arrested a 26-year-old man who had stolen a van parked outside a bakery in Anna Nagar three days ago. The incident took place on Thursday (August 22). The owner of the van, S Kalyanasundaram (42) of Korattur, had parked his vehicle near a bakery on Anna Nagar 6th Avenue and went to unload the goods in the van. When he returned, the van was missing, following which he realised that the vehicle had been stolen. Based on the complaint of the vehicle owner, the Anna Nagar police registered a case and began searching for the accused. Based on CCTV footage, the police tracked down the accused and on Saturday, the police arrested Abdul Jaleel (28) from Kerala and recovered the stolen vehicle from him. He was produced before a magistrate and sent to judicial custody.
