Chennai: Man arrested for stealing from a good-hearted person

Chennai: A 25-year-old man from Tumkur in Karnataka has been arrested by the K.K. Nagar police for allegedly stealing from a good Samaritan. The complainant, Noorul Amin (39) a resident of Tiruvarur, had come to the city to renew his visa in the first week of April and had rented a room in a lodge in K.K. Nagar. The accused, who introduced himself to Amin outside the lodge, claimed that he had come to the city in search of employment and all his belongings were stolen, and asked him if he could help him with an overnight stay. Believing his words, Amin shared his room with the man, but when he woke up the next day, he found that his two mobile phones, Rs 500 cash and Saudi Riyals worth Rs 5,000 had been stolen. Based on Amin’s complaint, the K.K. Nagar police registered a case and arrested the accused, Nanjunda Gowda, on Sunday. He was produced before a magistrate and sent to judicial custody.
