Chandigarh: A 10-year-old boy was killed when a toy train compartment overturned at a mall here, police said on Monday. The incident took place at Elante Mall on Saturday night, where the boy and his family from Balachaur in Punjab’s Nawanshahr were enjoying a picnic, police said. Alleged CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced on social media. According to police, Shahbaz was seated in the last compartment, which overturned when the toy train took a turn, causing serious head injuries to the boy, they said. The victim’s cousin was also seated with him but he did not suffer any injuries, they said. Shahbaz was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32, where he succumbed to his injuries, a senior police officer said. “A case has been registered against the person driving the train and the mall management,” the police officer said. He said a case has been registered under Section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in Industrial Area Phase-1 here.
