Chandigarh: Top seed Ruma Gaikwari of Maharashtra defeated Gujarat’s Dhara Thakur in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 to enter the women’s main draw during the ongoing CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championships at Sector 10 Complex. Second seed Alexa Jagdeep of Haryana had a tough fight from Delhi’s Manvi Rathi and won 6-7(2) 6-2, 10-8, while Delhi’s Jitesh Kumari defeated Haryana’s Avni Sahraya 6-2, 6-1. Neelakshi Lather also entered the next round by defeating Bhumika Rohilla 6-3, 6-3 and Anu Mor defeated Punjab’s Kiran Rajput 6-1, 6-0. Shravasti Kundaliya also defeated Sidhak Kaur 6-2, 4-6, 10-4, while Isha Budwal easily defeated Delhi’s Ila Pandey 6-3, 6-0. Shatakshika Sahayak of Uttar Pradesh defeated Adirai KA 7-5, 3-6, 10-5. In the final qualifying round of men’s singles, top seed Sathik Sudan easily defeated Ekamjit Singh Cheema of Punjab 6-1, 6-3, while Asanshumat Srivastava of Bihar defeated Daksh Kapoor 6-2, 6-1. Third seed Shreyas Dogiyal of Rajasthan defeated Ved Sampat Pawar of Maharashtra 7-5, 6-4 and Ronit Gupta of Delhi defeated fourth seed Gauransh Sood 6-2, 6-1. Tushar Bali of Uttar Pradesh also entered the next round after defeating Parth R Patil 6-3, 3-6, 10-8 and Pranaav M Saravanakumar defeated Swatantra Veer Singh Kajal 6-3, 7-6 (2). Joy Das prevailed over Yashasvi Balhara 1-6, 6-2, 10-8, and local rival Keshav Dangi also registered a tough win over Nishant Kumar 6-4, 2-6, 10-7.
