Chandigarh: Sports Complex players shine in the state championship

Chandigarh: Athletes from Sector 46 Sports Complex won a plethora of medals during the State Athletics Championship concluded at Sector 7 Sports Complex. On the closing day, the Sector 46 team won the 4×400 boys under-18 relay race with a timing of 3.40.51 seconds. Manveer Singh Noura, Ashu, Aparav and Danish represented the team. The Sarangpur Sports Complex team comprising Harsh Malik, Mayank, Hrithik Kumar and Sabir secured the second position with a timing of 3.48.00 seconds. In the 4x25m relay race in the girls under-12 category, the Sector 46 team of Yasmin Sharma, Avneet Kaur, Tanmeet Kaur and Sukhleen Kaur topped the race with a timing of 17.17 seconds. Aradhya Singh, Sikha, Naisha Kaushal and Aradhya Bohra from Sacred Heart School, Sector 26 secured the second position in 19.14 seconds. The team of Raj Rani, Babita, Meenu and Pari from Snehalaya for Girls, Sector 15, secured the third position in 19.15 seconds. Another relay team from the same institution, comprising Radha, Tanvi, Kanchan and Neha, won the gold medal in the 4x100m relay event. Parth was declared the best athlete in the under-8 boys category and Ashlee Gupta won the title in the girls event. Nishant (boys) and Alisha Roy (girls) were declared the best athletes in the under-10 age group. Kulnoor Singh (boys) and Yasmin (girls) were the winners in the under-12 group, while Abhay Singh (boys) and Mehak (girls) were the best athletes in the under-14 age group. Riya and Shivam won the best athlete title in the under-18 girls and boys category respectively, while Rishabh (boys) and Shirin (girls) emerged victorious in the under-20 age group. Zulfikar, athletics coach of the UT Sports Department posted at Sector 46 Sports Complex, was honoured as the best coach.
