told the Tribune that the incident occurred when workers were servicing the ACs. A short-circuit caused the compressor to explode, leading to the fire. As soon as the fire broke out, the workers started running downstairs. The fire brigade was called. A fire engine reached the spot and brought the fire under control within three-four minutes, a fire department official said.
Officials later inspected the spot. They will prepare a report about the fire safety arrangements at the showroom. The municipal corporation has repeatedly issued advisories to establishments to adhere to fire safety norms.
