Chandigarh: A local court has sentenced Punjab resident Manjit Singh to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in an NDPS case registered five years ago. The police had arrested the accused on October 2, 2018 in Sector 45, Chandigarh with 25 injections of Buprenorphine Omegasic (2 ml each) and 25 injections of Pheniramine Maleate (10 ml each). The accused tried to flee after seeing the police, but the police caught him with a bag containing banned injections. He failed to show any supporting documents for the injections. After investigation, the police filed a chargesheet against the accused. The accused’s lawyer denied the allegations and claimed that he has been falsely implicated in the case. After hearing arguments, the court pronounced the sentence and also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the convict.
