Chandigarh: Police have seized 12 hookahs containing tobacco from Cow Boy Club in Sector 9. Satbir Singh was arrested for possessing hookahs without licence or permit. A case has been registered at Sector 3 police station under Sections 4(A), 27(A) of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA). Satbir was later released on bail.
Theft in house in Sector 35
Chandigarh: Mahendra Khurana of Sector 35 has lodged a report that two unknown persons have stolen clothes from his house.
Two arrested for theft
Chandigarh: Police have arrested two persons for stealing iron grills. Rishabh of Sector 49 has lodged a report that two grills have been stolen from his storeroom. A case has been registered and two accused Mohd Inus and Anand, who are residents of EWS colony, have been arrested.
Classroom Project Launched
Chandigarh: Indian Premier League franchise Punjab Kings in association with Round Table India launched the Classroom Project at Government Primary School, Manakpur Sharif, SAS Nagar, Mohali. Under this initiative, three classrooms will be renovated with new tables and benches and renovated with new blackboards. Computer labs, sports facilities and equipment will also be installed in schools under this project to provide means of advanced education.
Ananya wins gold in weightlifting
Chandigarh: Weightlifter Ananya won medals at the Punjab State Junior and Senior Championships at Gunachaur (SBS Nagar). She won the gold medal in the 87+ junior category and silver in the youth category. She has been selected to represent Punjab at the upcoming National Weightlifting Championships. She lifted a total of 160 kg (75 kg in snatch and 85 kg in clean and jerk).
Host team won T-20 cricket match
Chandigarh: Devansh Sharma Cricket Academy defeated Himachal Cricket Academy by one run in Devansh Sharma Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament. Batting first, DSCA scored 78/9 runs, while Himachal Cricket Academy scored 77/6 runs. While bowling, Anubhav took three wickets. In the second match, Jaswal Cricket Academy defeated Team Liberals Cricket Team by nine wickets. In the third match, KBS Deck Samaj Cricket Academy defeated B-Team DCA by 22 runs.
