Chandigarh: Candidates of political parties along with leaders of other parties and their family members are organising door-to-door programmes in which they are meeting people and assuring residents that they will work for the development of the district.
Garg seeks support
Aam Aadmi Party candidate Prem Garg today sought support from the residents during his door-to-door campaign in Sectors 7 and 8. He met local traders of Sector 7 market area at 11 am and discussed their problems. He visited Manka, Jaswantgarh and Sultanpur village areas. He said residents allege that they do not meet their MLAs after they are elected. Garg said they assured them that they will stay connected with them. Garg was seen at the ISKCON temple today.
Chandra Mohan’s son also joined him
Congress candidate Chandra Mohan reached Barwala today and inaugurated the election office. He said roads in Barwala are broken and lanes in the village are not paved. He said, “Mud in the streets of the village is exposing the BJP’s development claims. Farmers do not get electricity to irrigate fields, urea mines are not available on time.” He reached Sector 19 and assured the people that he will solve their problems as soon as possible. He said that all the stray animals of the city will be sent to cow shelters if Congress comes to power. Chandra Mohan’s son also took part in the election campaign and met people in Sectors 5, 6 and 7.
Party leaders said that Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta’s cousin and BJP leader Shiv Kumar Gupta joined the Congress party today along with his colleagues. BJP’s Jan Sampark Abhiyan The Bharatiya Janata Party will launch a Jan Sampark Abhiyan from Sunday. Party leaders said that all the leaders, office bearers and workers will contact the voters of their respective booths and discuss the welfare schemes of the state government in Panchkula Assembly constituency. The programme, conducted by Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, will start from Yavanika Garden in Sector 5. Gupta said today that he is confident that the party will register a clear victory in the elections. Party’s district president Deepak Sharma said that Gupta will lead the campaign in rural areas and he will lead the campaign in urban areas. He said that Mahasampark Abhiyan will be run on a large scale in both the assembly constituencies of the district.
