Chandigarh: Anand-Hian won badminton doubles title

Chandigarh: The pair of Ayush Anand and Hian Yadav won the boys under-11 doubles final by defeating Kanwarjeet and Riyan Panchal 21-7, 21-15 during the Yonex Sunrise Chandigarh State Senior and Junior Badminton Championships held at the Centre of Excellence for Badminton, Sector 38 Sports Complex. The pair of Adya Singh Meena and Kaylin won the girls under-11 doubles final by defeating Arnaz Kaur and Ashwika Sharma 21-16, 17-21 and 21-16. In the girls under-19 doubles final, Ridhima Saini and Tashvi Goyal easily defeated Anupriya and Raisa Bhanot 21-14, 21-15, while Jasmeet Kaur and Naina Trehan won the women’s doubles final by defeating Mehnoor Kaur and Mili Verma 20-22, 21-19 and 21-17. Akul Malik and Nimar Kaur Virk defeated Suryansh Raghav and Raisa Bhanot 21-19 and 21-8 to win the under-19 mixed doubles final, while in the boys’ under-19 doubles final, Krishna and Rehan defeated Aditya and Rana Rudra Pratap Singh 23-21 and 26-24. Samarveer Sharma defeated second seed Dhruv Bansal 21-12, 21-17 to win the men’s final.
TSBA team wins
The players of Tricity Shuttlers Badminton Academy (TSBA) dominated the championship. Samarveer of TSBA was declared the best player of the tournament and was awarded the trophy instituted by the Chandigarh Badminton Association in the memory of former national champion and international player Wing Commander Satish Bhatia. Madhu Bhatia, wife of Satish Bhatia, handed over the trophy. In the women’s category, Rijul of TSBA was adjudged the best player of the tournament. Akul of Sector 38 Sports Complex won the overall under-19 singles trophy. Chandigarh Badminton Association President Priyank Bharti awarded the winners and congratulated the participants.
